The carpets of the Grand Mosque

the General Authority for the Care & Management of the Grand Mosque at Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque continues its efforts to maintain the cleanliness and quality of the carpets within the Grand Mosque. The carpets are an integral part of the pilgrim’s experience, with more than 35,000 green carpets covering the corridors and courtyards of the Grand Mosque, distributed across 30 different locations, with an increase on Fridays and during seasons (such as Ramadan), that provides vast and comfortable spaces for worshippers and pilgrims.

The maintenance of the carpets in the Grand Mosque undergoes a regular schedule that includes cleaning and sanitising using modern and eco-friendly technologies. The care process is not limited to cleaning but also includes periodically replacing the carpets to ensure the complete comfort of worshippers and maintaining a high level of cleanliness at all times.

Each carpet in the Grand Mosque undergoes a thorough inspection before being returned to prayer areas. This inspection ensures that the carpets are free from any defects or damage that could affect their quality, including scrutinising small details such as colours, fabric, and edges to ensure the carpets remain in optimal condition. The awareness of worshippers using the carpets for their intended purposes is also a crucial factor in maintaining their quality for the longest possible period, ensuring their comfort during prayers.

the General Authority for the Care & Management of the Two Holy Mosques also continuously works on developing services related to the Two Holy Mosques, ensuring that visitors have a complete experience which consists of comfort and ease, with a focus on quality and sustainability in all its operations.
